USING STARS AS BATTERY

Image
Hello, my favorite earthlings, we are back again to perform some amazing science experiments with one of our favorite lab rats and that is none other than our sun. So, what should we do with him today?  How about, using the sun as the batteries for our car or our television, in other words, we would be using literal solar energy directly captured from the sun and using that very energy in our day-to-day use.  Well, something this crazy thought can only arise in the mind of a bond villain, but actually, this idea was first thought of by a Russian physicist named  Dyson Sphere .   First, let's understand where this idea emerges from... This idea goes way back to 1839 with Edmond Becquerel, a young physicist working in France observed and discovered the photovoltaic effect- a process that produces a voltage or electric current when exposed to light or radiant energy, this was something that would change the ways humanity thinks about creating energy and push us to greater heights of c

BEST SEMICONDUCTOR MATERIAL EVER FOUND?

Image
Talking about semiconductors the first and most widely used semiconductor that comes to our mind is silicon, but is silicon the best semiconductor? A team of researchers has discovered what the Massachusetts Institute of Technology calls the “best semiconductor material ever found,” even better than silicon, the material used in just about every computer chip on earth Let's know a little about semiconductors. A semiconductor is a solid substance that has a conductivity between that of an insulator and that of most metals, either due to the addition of an impurity or because of temperature effects. Silicon is one of the most abundant elements on Earth, and in its pure form, the material has become the foundation of much of modern technology, from solar cells to computer chips. But silicon’s properties as a semiconductor are far from ideal. For a thought, is there any other Semiconductor that is better than Silicon? Well, a recent study done by an MIT professor has proved that cubi

River Front Development Pune

Image
Pune, particularly is a flood-prone city. There are a total of 5 rivers in Pune namely Mula, Mutha, Devnadi, Ramnadi and Pavana. The 5 rivers form confluences in different parts in the city and flow away from Pune as one river that is, Mula-Mutha. In short, water flows into Pune from 5 different catchments and there is only one outlet- Mula-Mutha.      During the 2019 floods, houses were eroded, many were severely injured and 25 innocent people lost their lives.        The population of Pune has also increased in leaps and bounds due to rapid urbanization in the past 3 decades. The city’s sewage disposal efficiency and capacity have not been upgraded to match the demand of the current population of Pune. Most of the water flowing in the rivers is sewage and industrial effluents.        What is the RFD aka River Front Development Project?      It proposes to build 30-40 ft high concrete wall which will act as banks of the river and prevent the water from gushing over into the ci

Path-breaking Technological Progress of INDIA

Image
World & technology Aptly quoted by the inventor of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee – “The Web as I envisaged it, we have not seen it yet. The future is still so much bigger than the past.”, applies to every category of technological inventions. With the advent of new, faster and better technologies like Web3, Metaverse, etc. humans have been soaring new heights. This progress is, undoubtedly, set to increase an exponential rate in the coming future. India & the recognition for the technological inventions- Reference – The Economic Times India has given us many reasons to be proud of. Since the very beginning, India has been a part of this progress but it has made its presence felt to the world only for the past few years. It is extremely important that we take credit for all the major technological inventions from the very beginning and celebrate those and their inventors. India ranks third among the most attractive investment destinations for technology tran

Interesting Facts About Black Holes

Image
WHAT IS A BLACK HOLE? A black hole is a place in space where gravity pulls so much that even light can not get out. The gravity is so strong because matter has been squeezed into a tiny space. This can happen when a star is dying. Because no light can get out, people can't see black holes. They are invisible. Space telescopes with special tools can help find black holes. The special tools can see how stars that are very close to black holes act differently than other stars. Could a Black Hole Destroy Earth? Black holes do not go around in space, eating stars, moons, and planets. Earth will not fall into a black hole because no black hole is close enough to the solar system for Earth to do that. Even if a black hole the same mass as the sun were to take the place of the sun, Earth still would not fall in. The black hole would have the same gravity as the sun. Earth and the other planets would orbit the black hole as they orbit the sun now. The sun will never turn into a black hole
